#HourofCode is approaching and this year Tickle app prepares you 8-week AR projects to code it all through!

Yes, you hear it right. Augmented reality has landed on Tickle app!

We are so excited to present you our latest update (version 5.0) on AR feature implementation, as this is breaking the status quo and gives what we have devoted so much to — STEM education — a huge lift into a multidimensional coding environment.

On Augmented Reality, Apple CEO Tim Cook shared that it has “broad mainstream applicability across education, entertainment interactive gaming, enterprise, and categories we probably haven’t even thought of.”

To scale up this nascent idea of bringing AR technology into education, Tickle app levels up such functionalities onto our coding platform to enable users to acquire the best AR coding experience.

Why AR for coding?

The mix of visual programming and robotics controlling has benefited our millions of users in such an innovative way. In a STEM class, we can see popular activities performed via Tickle app as coding robotics for maze running or flying drones through obstacles, which require knowledge of coding, problem-solving skills and brainstorming time to code it through.

However, we are NOT stopping here.

Our new AR coding functionalities grant users the potential to code interaction between intangible particles and their physical surroundings. It is our pledge to help teachers and students to break confinement (i.e. owning a robot) and bring in more creativity in an ordinary, and at times staid classroom scenario.

AR projects in the making

So, how does it work? Where do we start?
Not to worry. Everything is upgraded, but familiarly so.

You can now create an AR project on Tickle app by adding 3D characters, dragging coding blocks and finally turn on the camera to witness real-time performance of your project in AR dimension.

3D characters can put on a ‘plane’ in AR dimension. This plane concept is basically bringing a virtual ground into your AR project for your 3D elements to be placed on, so that the characters are seemingly interacting with the real surroundings when your AR view is switched on.

(Blue grid will appear when Tickle app finds a virtual ground!)

Just find yourself a platform, be it a table or a field, in your physical surrounding to be the main stage for your AR project. Choose one or multiple 3D characters to code on and brainstorm to figure out how you would want this project to be like!
