Speech driven interfaces are rapidly becoming part of our daily lives. From dictating short texts or emails to asking Alexa, Google, or Siri to play some music, speech is the most effective way to connect to applications when your hands and eyes are busy focused on the job. In industrial settings the benefits from speech interfaces go far beyond convenience to sizable operational and revenue gains. In settings ranging from field service, to enterprise asset maintenance (EAM), and manufacturing, speech leverages existing enterprise systems generating value exceeding the original business case. Speech is on its way to becoming the way mobile industrial workers interface with systems. It is a platform technology necessary for capitalizing on rising technologies such as augmented reality and machine learning.
